The quick answer
The installed prices below are national, Texas-wide and Dallas figures from Angi. There isn’t reliable published slab pricing for every North Texas city yet, so treat these as a starting point and compare them with local quotes.
- National (Angi): a new concrete slab costs $4 to $8 per square foot, or about $110 per cubic yard. The average job is $5,400, and most people pay $3,600–$7,200. (Angi, national)
- Texas (Angi): $5.30–$5.90 per square foot on average, which is among the lower states on Angi’s list. California, for comparison, runs $7.70–$8.50. (Angi, national)
- Dallas (Angi): $4 to $8 per square foot, or about $115 per cubic yard. Most Dallas projects land between $3,712 and $7,423. (Angi, Dallas, updated Apr 27, 2026)
Slab cost by size
Angi lists the same typical costs nationally and for Dallas:
| Slab size | Square feet | Average cost |
|---|---|---|
| 10×10 | 100 | $600 |
| 20×20 | 400 | $2,400 |
| 30×30 | 900 | $5,400 |
Sources: Angi, national and Angi, Dallas. Angi doesn’t list 20×30 or 30×40 sizes. Multiplying the area by $4–$8 per square foot gives you a rough range for those, but it’s an estimate, not a published price.
Cost by type of concrete (Dallas figures)
| Type | Avg. per sq ft (Dallas) |
|---|---|
| Standard | $6 |
| Rebar reinforced | $7 |
| High-strength | $8 |
| Fiber mesh | $10 |
Source: Angi, Dallas. Angi also says reinforcement adds $0.50 to $3 per square foot.
Why North Texas soil matters
Angi’s Dallas guide notes that Dallas has clay soil that “shifts significantly in high moisture,” which can crack slabs, and it recommends stronger or rebar-reinforced concrete. Ask your contractor what base prep and reinforcement they plan for your soil.
Patios and driveways (Dallas figures)
- Concrete patio, Dallas: most homeowners spend about $2,854, and the usual range is $1,718–$4,095. (Angi, Dallas patio)
- Concrete driveway, Dallas: the average is $6,598, and most projects run $2,784–$14,950. (Angi, Dallas driveway)
What the materials cost right now
If you’re pouring a small slab yourself, here’s what the basics cost at Home Depot. Every price below was checked live on Nov 3, 2026 at the Home Depot in Sherman (store #0518, 601 Northcreek Dr). Prices change, so check again before you buy.
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Quikrete 80 lb Concrete Mix≈ 0.60 cu ft; 45 bags = 1 cu yd | $5.98 |
| Quikrete 80 lb Concrete Mix, pallet of 42 | $238.56 |
| Quikrete 50 lb Fast-Setting Concrete Mix≈ 0.375 cu ft | $7.97 |
| 42″ × 84″ remesh sheet≈ 24.5 sq ft | $15.87 |
Bag yields come from Quikrete’s specs on the Home Depot product pages linked above.
Worked example: a 10×10 patio slab, 4 inches thick (materials only)
What this example assumes: a 10 ft × 10 ft slab, 4 inches thick, 10% extra concrete for waste and uneven ground, 80 lb bags at 0.60 cu ft each, remesh sheets for reinforcement with 10% overlap, and the Sherman Home Depot prices above (checked Nov 3, 2026). It doesn’t include gravel base, form boards, stakes, tool or mixer rental, delivery, or tax.
| Item | Qty | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Volume10 × 10 × (4 ÷ 12) = 33.3 cu ft + 10% | 36.7 cu ft≈ 1.36 cu yd | — |
| 80 lb concrete bags36.7 ÷ 0.60, rounded up | 62 | $370.76 |
| Remesh sheets110 sq ft ÷ 24.5 | 5 | $79.35 |
| Concrete + mesh | $450.11 |
That’s about $450 in concrete and mesh. Angi’s average for a 10×10 slab is $600 installed. At around 1.4 yards, the job is also big enough that many people price out ready-mix delivery instead of mixing 62 bags by hand. That’s a common rule of thumb, not a firm cutoff.
What pushes the price up (or down)
- Thickness: going from 4 to 6 inches adds 50% more concrete.
- Reinforcement: $0.50–$3 more per sq ft (Angi, Dallas).
- Mix: high-strength and fiber-mesh concrete cost more per sq ft (see the table above).
- Base prep: clay soil, slopes and drainage work add labor.
- Finish: Angi says patios range from $2 to $15 per sq ft depending on the finish (Angi, Dallas).
